IMPACTS FROM THE UNION LANE WATER MAIN IMPROVEMENTS AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE UNION LANE ELEVATED WATER STORAGE TANK
The Mayor & Council deeply regret any inconvenience that you, the impacted residents may be experiencing as a result of the necessary upgrade of the Union Lane Water Main and the construction of the new water storage tank at the Department of Public Works Facility.
The target date for completion of these projects remains late September 2015. The water main project, west of Highway #71 shall be completed prior to the beginning of the school year. Despite some minor delays the project appears to be on or near schedule.
The erection of the water tank is complete. Sand-blasting of the welds on the exterior and interior tank are underway and the tank shall be enclosed via a full containment system prior to paint application. Paint on the tank exterior will be applied by hand via brushing and rolling in the ensuing weeks. All materials should be contained within the project site, but there is always the possibility of some stray blast media or paint escaping the containment tent. The contractor has insurance and has posted a performance guarantee to cover the cost of remediation of any potential damages. An air filtration/dust collection system, that will minimize dust mitigation, will also be in place.
Both projects are funded through the (NJDEP) New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection & (NJEIT) New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Trust Fund. The bids and specifications were reviewed and approved by these Agencies. That ensures that they meet the highest industry standards.
In the interest of full disclosure, the data sheets that provide detailed information on the materials being used to sand-blast and paint the new storage tank are on file at Borough Hall and are available to all interested parties.
